Steeping is a fundamental cooking method that is applied for the preparation of teas, coffees, broths, tisanes, fermentations, and other infusions. The methodology of this process is characterized by the production of steam by the heating of water or liquid until it reaches its boiling point, which is about 100°C (212°F). Some typical examples of the ingredients used in the process include tea leaves, coffee grounds, herbs, and spices. These ingredients serve to extract the flavors from the different materials used to prepare the drinks. Extracting the best from ingredients in teas or broths can be accomplished through boiling – producing aromatic, tasty, and calming beverages for our gustatory pleasure. Correct timings and temperature management are very essential to attain the desired strength and aroma while retaining the natural quality of the raw materials.
