Properly Rinse Rice and Lentils: Rinsing the grains of rice can prevent the starch from clumping together causing a sticky or chewy texture. This is an important step since the grains have to be cooked thoroughly and the food materials are free from clumps, leaving a nutty, light, and fluffy feel to the khichdi.

Tempering Spices: While tempering whole spices such as cumin, you let them simmer in the hot ghee well, this operation makes the essential oils out and thus enhances the original aroma. This step imbibes the whole dish with the flavor of the aromatic masala in return making the khichdi incredibly tasty and loved by everybody.

Balancing Water Ratio: Adjusting the volume of water to be added for each item is an important factor for cooking khichdi the way we like; this involves the correct quantities of rice and lentils. Contrary to popular opinion, an excess amount of water makes the soup soupy, and too little amount of water makes the grains dry and undercooked. To achieve the perfect paste consistency, whether runny or very dense, all takes a fine blend which leads to a perfectly cooked and silky texture.

Cooking Technique: Maximum the pressure cooker the saucepan is one of the most important tools that affect the quality of the final product. Pressure cooking as well as low heat commute prevents the collapsing of vegetables turning them soft while the taste of the simmering method is more nuanced and sophisticated.

Seasoning and Garnishing: The boiled rice and the combination of lentils (toor dal/ whole moong dal) are used as the base of the khichdi to which salt, spices, and freshly chopped herbs like coriander leaves are added to make a delicious khichdi. The ultimate touch though is the garnish: a small drizzle of ghee or a squeeze of lemon just before serving imparts a further depth, smell, and taste to the dish.
